As a woman, I feel continually shhh’ed. Too sensitive. Too mushy. Too wishy washy. Blah blah. Don’t let someone steal your tenderness. Don’t allow the coldness and fear of others to tarnish your perfectly vulnerable beating heart. Nothing is more powerful than allowing yourself to truly be affected by things. Whether it’s a song, a stranger, a mountain, a rain drop, a tea kettle, an article, a sentence, a footstep…feel it all – look around you- all of this is for you. Take it and have gratitude. Give it and feel love.

White privilege is living on stolen land, and having the arrogance to say “Go back to where you came from”.

In a white supremacist society, only white people are permitted to make mistakes, atone for them, be forgiven, and then be welcomed back into the society with open arms.

Yes, redemption is something only granted to white people, see:

Charlie Sheen, Kate Moss, Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Alec Baldwin vs. Michael Vick, Kanye West, Chris Brown, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson. All people who were guilty of either drug abuse, domestic violence, having an affair, or abuse to children. Yet, only those that were POC became pariahs whose fame is or was constantly in the balance due to the fact that the white audience loathes them and controls the medias representation of them. Charlie Sheen gets a commercial mocking his disgusting behavior, while people still cuss Kanye over the Taylor Swift incident.

(In a conference on the GWOT, 9/11 and "Islamic ideology", I was in the speaking panel)
Young British man in the crowd asks me: Are you apologetic about 9/11?
Me: No. I don't apologize for 9/11. Why should I? I had nothing to do with it. I'm only sorry about the lives lost - regardless of who they were. But I am NOT a spokesperson for Al-Qaeda. No sensible Muslim is. Do I ask British people to apologize to me for colonizing my country back then, taking the rights of the masses away, ending freedom of speech, creating problematic borders that led to bloodshed, sexually assaulting the women of my land, westernizing the entire pedagogues in the subcontinent, turning my culture and my identity into a mystical subject for orientalist authors to go capitalize on? Have I asked you to say sorry to me?
Him: (remains silent)

But you see, here in America the attitude that is fed to us is that outside of America there live lesser people. “Fuck them, let them fend for themselves.” No, Fuck you, they are you. No matter how much you want to dye your hair blonde and put fake eyes in, or follow an anorexic standard of beauty, or no matter how many diamonds you buy from people who exploit your own brutally
to get them, no matter what kind of car you drive or what kind of fancy clothes you put on, you will
never be them. They’re always gonna look at you as nothing but a little monkey. I’d rather be proud of what I am, rather than desperately trying to be something I’m really not, just to fit in.

In the instances when POC say shit like ‘Oh I can’t stand white folk’ or ‘Damn white people’, they aren’t saying ‘Oh I think they are inferior, I want to humiliate them, abuse them, enslave them and wipe out their people!’, they’re saying ‘Damn, after a couple hundred years of white people thinking I’m inferior, humiliating me, abusing me, enslaving me, and trying to wipe out my people, I don’t wanna deal with them.’ The context is completely different.
